Hopwise ("the app") is an independently developed beer-knowledge and study app. This policy explains what data the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to make the app work, we don't run ads, we don't use analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
Guest use (default). You can use Hopwise without creating an account. A random anonymous identifier is created so the app can save your progress (questions answered, review schedule, streaks, badges, exam attempts). This identifier is not tied to your name, email, or any real-world identity.
If you add an email. You can optionally link an email address to back up your progress across devices. Sign-in uses a one-time magic link — we never see or store a password. Your email is used only for authentication and is not used for marketing.
Study data. Your quiz answers, lesson progress, spaced-repetition schedule, streaks, badges, and exam attempts are stored so the app can function.
What we don't collect: location, contacts, photos, browsing history, purchase history, advertising identifiers, or diagnostics tied to you. The app contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
Study reminders are optional and scheduled locally on your device. No push notification tokens are sent to our servers. You can turn reminders off in the app or in iOS Settings at any time.
Data is stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, protected by row-level security so only your account can read your records. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app (Account → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Hopwise is about beer. You must be of legal drinking age in your country to use the app, and the app asks you to confirm this on first launch. The app is rated 17+/18+ on the App Store.
Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. The in-app account deletion covers deletion; for anything else, contact us.
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
